Frequently Asked Questions

Straightforward answers about the culture, expectations, and experience at The Shop.

We’re completely new. Can we attend, and do we have to do anything?
The Shop is a social lounge for open-minded adults. You are welcome whether you’re just curious, already exploring ENM or kink, or somewhere in between.

Participation is always optional. You can:
  • Relax, talk, and feel out the vibe
  • Just watch and learn how things work
  • Flirt, connect, or play only if and when it feels right
The goal: you move at your pace, with your boundaries, and zero pressure.
What kind of people come to The Shop?
The community is intentionally mixed and diverse. You’ll see:
  • Couples looking to reconnect, explore, or open things up
  • Singles and solos who value consent, clarity, and respect
  • Kink-curious and experienced players
  • People of different ages, body types, races, genders, and orientations
What they share: a desire for honest connection, safer exploration, and a space where consent actually means something.
Is this just a “swingers club”?
No. The Shop has roots in that world, but it has evolved into a broader, consent-forward social lounge. Some members are ethically non-monogamous or swingers, some are polyamorous, some are kink-focused, some are monogamous couples just looking to reconnect in a sex-positive environment.

The core is connection, communication, and freedom to explore — not labels.
Is The Shop just for couples, or can singles attend too?
Both.

Couples use The Shop to deepen connection, explore together, or cautiously dip into ENM. Singles/solos come to meet like-minded people in a structured, consent-focused environment instead of chaotic bars and apps.

Some events are more couple-heavy, some are more mixed. The event descriptions will give you a feel for each night’s typical vibe.
What age is required for membership?
All members and guests must be at least 21 years old to attend events. Age and identity are verified during the application process — zero exceptions.
I’m worried about my body. Will I be judged?
Everyone has insecurities — including the people you assume don’t. The Shop is intentionally body-positive and shame-resistant.

Members are expected to treat every body with respect. You are not being evaluated on looks or popularity. You are evaluated on how you show up, how you communicate, and how you respect others’ boundaries.
Will I be pressured to play, flirt, or “go further” than I want?
No. That’s not the culture here.

The Shop is built around enthusiastic, ongoing consent. You can:
  • Say “no” or “not tonight” and still be respected
  • Change your mind at any time. You can say no anytime
  • Ask staff or Safer Space Monitors for support if something feels off

Anything that ignores a boundary or pushes people past their limits is directly against house rules.

Do you have any pictures of the club?
Yes. You can preview parts of the space here: View Club Photos.

Photos are intentionally curated to protect member privacy while still giving you a feel for the vibe.
When is The Shop open?
The Shop typically operates on weekends and select special dates. Always check the event calendar to see what’s coming up and which nights fit your vibe:

What can I expect when I come to The Shop?
Expect a warm, intentionally curated environment. Hosts and Safer Space Monitors are on site, music is tuned for connection, and expectations around consent and behavior are clear.
How should I dress for events?
Dress to feel confident, seductive, or somewhere in between. The main request: intentional, clean, and event-appropriate.

Full guidelines are here: Dress Code & Guidelines.
Do you sell or provide alcohol?
The Shop is BYOB and not licensed to sell alcohol. You’re welcome to bring your own beverages, which are checked in with staff and served back to you responsibly.

Mixers like soda, juices, and basic bar staples are typically provided at no additional cost.
Do you provide food?
Light snacks and basic food options are usually available to keep energy up and the vibe right. For heavier meals, many members eat beforehand or coordinate nearby dining, especially on big event nights.
I’m from out of town. Where should I stay?
There are multiple hotels within a short drive of The Shop, and rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is usually straightforward. For a current list of nearby lodging options, visit: Nearby Hotels & Lodging.
